I want to share with you a little bit more about what I do and the ethos surrounding health and fitness that I’m so passionate about.

I am a personal trainer who works 1:1 with clients here in Norwich, Norfolk. I also teach fitness classes in my gym including cycle, LBT & Pump.

I’ve always loved exercise and sports but I completely lost my way in mainstream fitness culture – which is so easily done! A few years ago I was working as a primary school teacher. I got caught up in low calorie, fad diets and gruelling workouts – completely taking my own health for granted in the process. I was obsessed with tracking my food intake and my work outs, missing a work out made me so anxious that I never had a rest day. My confidence and self esteem was at an all time low, mixed with a stressful job and zero self care it wasn’t long before I burnt out. I was diagnosed with depression as a result.

After such a brutal wake up call, I stumbled across intuitive eating completely by accident. I worked really hard to ditch the diet mentality and began focusing on ways of eating and moving that felt really good. As a result, I became really passionate about reclaiming health and fitness in a way that actually added to my life. In the process I fell in love with lifting weights and began to value all types of movement, from dancing in my kitchen to taking walks with the dog.

In the fitness industry there is so much talk of weight loss, thigh gaps and body transformations. Our idea of health and fitness has become completely misconstrued. All too often, we focus on the way our bodies look at the expense of everything else.

My mission as a personal trainer and coach is to put people back in touch with what really matters whist taking into account all of their needs, including their mental health, self care, body image and relationship with food and exercise. Often, just changing our mindset and the way we think about our own health can have a huge impact. I work from a weight inclusive, health first approach which means I take into account all of your needs and together, we work out the best ways that I can support you in achieving your goals.

We will also spend time working recognising the very real barriers and social systems in place which might be preventing you from making health promoting habits a priority, finding workable solutions together.
